Electric vehicle charging:
An introduction for homeowners
When buying an EV, having a plan about where and how to charge it will be a big part of your decision making process. While public EV charging infrastructure is getting better and better, having an option to charge at home is essential for most owners. Work, mall, roadside and service-station chargers are great for top-ups when traveling, but home is still where you're likely to do the bulk of your charging.
So at the same time as you think about buying an EV, you should think about how you'll charge it. Plug-in chargers are OK for a slow trickle charge, but for full overnight charging you'll want a professionally installed wall charger in your garage or wherever you park your car overnight – and that's where EES comes in.
Our nationwide team of electricians can assess your home and its power supply, recommend and supply an appropriate charger, then install it professionally and safely.
If your charger requires more electricity than your home can currently supply (such as three-phase power) we can manage that too.
1. Where to put your EV charger
Electric vehicles take a lot of power to charge, so your EV charger will draw more current than any other appliance in your home while it's in use. That makes electrical safety even more important!

The easiest way to assure safety is to have your charger installed by a licenced electrician with experience and training in electric vehicle chargers. Once we finish your installation you'll get a Certificate of Compliance to guarantee that the work complies with all applicable safety standards.
