Buying a heat pump – from start to finish

At EES we make choosing, buying and owning a heat pump or air conditioner easy.

While we sell and install heat pumps every day of every week, we get that Kiwi homeowners don’t buy one that often. So, if you’re considering a new or replacement heat pump, here’s our easy guide to the process.

Doing your homework
If you’ve made it to our website, you’re already doing it! Usually this comes down to choosing between a few ways you can buy a heat pump.

Direct from a retailer can feel like a simple “cash and carry” approach. You choose a unit, buy it, take it home and arrange an installer. The risk here is that if something goes wrong, you could be stuck in an argument between the retailer, the manufacturer and the installer. You could also miss out on impartial expert advice about which unit or brand to buy.
Direct from a manufacturer will make after sales support and warranty services easy, but you need to be sure the brand you’ve chosen is right for you. Not every brand will offer every size and style of heat pump so you could end up with something that’s not ideal.
Buying via a trusted seller/installer like EES. When you deal with EES we offer pre-sales consultation, a range of brands and trusted installation and service – all from our own team. It’s all designed to make choosing and owning a heat pump easy-as.

Choosing a unit
With EES this starts with a free home consultation. We’ll come to your place, measure your rooms and talk to you about how you and your family use them. Then we’ll recommend the type of heat pump that will work for you, along with a make and model. You’ll receive a guaranteed quote, including professional installation. No surprises!

Easy ways to buy
Not everyone has cash in the bank to pay for a new heat pump. No problem! We offer finance options to spread the payments and make living in a home that’s warm in winter and cool in summer even easier.

Professional installation
We’ll agree on a time that suits you for our professional installers to visit your home and install your new unit. That will include where to place the indoor and outdoor units, as well as your remote control. We can even set up your heat pump’s wifi connection if fitted. And of course, we’ll clean up when we’re finished!

Ongoing service
Unlike some smaller suppliers and installers, when you trust EES to install your heat pump you’re dealing with a large, established company that’s here for the long haul. (We’re owned by Vector, one of New Zealand’s biggest infrastructure companies.)

As an EES heat pump owner, you’re always welcome to get in touch with any questions. We’ll also remind you when those important regular services are due, to keep your new heat pump running perfectly and meet the requirements of your manufacturer’s warranty.
